Bye bye Copenhagen
This Tuesday we had the last lecture in Denmark. It was about the psychology behind fairy tales and last but not least a fairy tale quiz! At the end of the lecture the teacher gave us Danish chocolate sweets and qouted Albert Einstein "If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales". So if you ever wonder why you're not that smart...
On Thursday and Friday, two pedagogs who have done the Myths and Fairy tale course twenty years ago, came by to teach us how to use fairy tales in education. The first day we told the story of little red riding hood in four different ways: by a shadow play, a classroom play (literally the whole classroom had been used for this play, tables where upside down, drawings with chalk on the floor etc.), a puppet play and the last one: a blindfolded play. I joined the last group. We told the story with smells, tasting things and sounds. That was hilarious!! Another thing one of the pedagogs told us about was 'the golden box'. Which is a box filled with cards. On those cards were pictures of for example a lady, a car, a bird or a ring. Someone had to grap three cards out of the box and made up a story with these pictures. At the second day we went to the forest. We were divided in four groups. Each group had to make a creature of things that we could find in the woods. We created Wally: a watertroll who loves to dance. After we told about our creatures, we played some games, sat around the campfire and listened to a great storyteller! I hope I will be as good as her at one day.
Yesterday it was the last day that we could travel to Copenhagen. This upcomming week will be filled up with rehearsing for the puppet play and finishing the puppets. We went for a cake and a coffee with some fellow students and afterwards me and a Danish student hang around the city a bit. Enjoying the last bit of sun we probalby get. In the evening we ate at Papiroen and with pain in our hearts we left with this beautiful view of the city by night. Bye bye Copenhagen.....
